Frequently Asked Questions

What does “Triple Picked” mean?

The lot is hand-sorted three times after hulling — max 6 defect value with no primary defects. Double Picked is sorted twice (15–20 defect value).

What is wet hulling (Giling Basah)?

Sumatra’s traditional process: parchment is removed at ~30–35% moisture and the beans finish drying as green coffee. It produces Mandheling’s signature heavy body, low acidity, and dark green bean color.

Is Sumatra Mandheling available year-round?

Main harvest runs October – March; well-stored lots are typically offered through most of the year. Ask for current lot availability and crop year.
